Charles Davidson, retired Presbyterian Church (USA) minister and pastoral psychotherapist, was the Darrel Rollins Professor of Holistic Ministry in Pastoral Theology, Care, and Counseling at Virginia University of Lynchburg, and a clinician with Pastoral Counseling Services of Central Virginia. He served pastorates in North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, and Virginia. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, he received degrees from Hampden-Sydney College, Union Presbyterian Seminary, and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Charles is the author of Bone Dead, and Rising: Vincent van Gogh and the Self Before God (Cascade Books). His articles, essays, poetry, commentary, and educational curricula have appeared in Pastoral Psychology, Theology Today, The Journal of Presbyterian History, Adult Discovery, Christian Education Shared Approaches, The Presbyterian Outlook, and Self Psychology News. He lives in Asheville, North Carolina, and offers illustrated public lectures and classes about Vincent van Gogh to a variety of audiences.
